We have a car!
Good news everybody - The Islanders have found, and purchased, the trusty steed that will hopefully carry us all the way to Ulaanbataar. James and Will travelled from the Isles of Scilly to the mainland, picked up a hire car and proceeded to travel over 700 miles around the South West in the search for the vehicle.
After visiting 15 or so garages, and pouring over countless cars, our initial search for a Suzuki Ignis (see previous blog) came up fruitless - if we really wanted the Japanese motor, we'd either have to go for a questionable specimin or or travel the length and bredth of the country! A quick consult with Mackey, and we agreed to go for a classic little motor that really does fulfill all challenge requirements - a CITROEN SAXO.
Motorwells Citroen of Yeovil had a fantastic little motor - 1.1 litres, the funky "Forte" model (which comprises of a yellow gear knob and some fashionable (in the 80s) interior. 57k miles on the clock, full Citroen service history, and best of all - we paid £1,500 for it from our initial budget of £2,500!

The car is sat at Lands End in Cornwall, waiting to be shipped over to the island so we can learn everything there is to learn with our new car/home for a month.
I think you'll agree with us, this is a big step - and now we have the car, it shows what a challenge this will be.
The car above; taking 3 grown men; and everything on the Equipment List below; 10,000 miles through unforgiving terrain.
