First Fundraiser - Mobile Feast!
First Fundraiser - Mobile Feast!
We kicked off our fundraising effort on Saturday night, with the Scilly Mission Mobile Feast, which turned out to be a fantastic night!
For those currently wondering what on earth a Mobile Feast is - yourself and a partner/friend (aka a "couple") elect to prepare and host a single course (ie. starter, main or desert). We had 30 people, or 15 couples, take part. All participants meet at the island pub for 7pm, where they are all informed where each couple will be eating their starter (3 couples per location per course).
After the starter has been eaten, and copious amounts of wine already consumed, an envelope is opened to reveal where the three couples will be splitting and heading to next. The same again happens after the main course, as more people are mixed up for desert.
James & Mackey were a "couple", and we hosted a desert course. Throughout our three course meal (in three different houses), we ate and drank with 12 other randomly selected people.
(It turns out the concept of a mobile feast is much harder to explain than first thought!)
The majority of people made it back to the pub at 11pm, where a raffle took place to help The Islanders raise a fantastic £250 towards the challenge!
We thank everyone who took part, cooked some amazing food and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening - special thanks goes to Jo & Jane Ash for organizing the logistical nightmare, and Tamasin for selling raffle tickets to anyone she saw!
Unfortunately, we'd all had a few drinks before the first course commenced, hence the lack of photos! The only ones we did manage to take:
