32 days to go...
This blog has been updated as and when we find a second, but as those precious hours and minutes slip through our overladen fingers, we've decided to turn it into a real blog. Like a reguarly updated blog. And as it stands, we probably have enough news to talk about on a daily basis! (See yesterday's blog HERE).
Our big thanks go out to Robert Hesketh, and David Hesketh (father and son should you be wondering).
We met Robert on his recent trip to Tresco, and described our plans in depth over quite a few beers. Robert, as well as running his business from http://www.ukphotographs.com, offered his experience as a professional photographer and editor, and gave us plenty of tips for on the road, even going as far as offering us the loan of various laptops and cameras. Not only that, but he made a very generous donation towards the Scilly Mission - and even went as far as persuading his father to do the same! David is a UK Chartered Mathematician and a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics & Its Applications, and runs a management consultancy firm. Our huge thanks to them both, and we look forward to the debrief over many more beers.
Following on from yesterday's rant, it seems the gods have looked favourably on us, and we have found our first tent supplier! A most excellent company called World of Camping, and their most excellent CEO Robert Prisk, have kindly agreed to provide mobile accommodation facilities (ie. a Gelert Solo tent) for one of The Islanders! (Which of us is their choice, but whoever they pick, will no doubt be very greatful to have a home for a month)
Have a look at their website by clicking the logo below. The Islanders send their sincere thanks.
We would also like to thank Vincent Tractors for a generous donation towards the Scilly Mission - a company that has provided Tresco Estate with most things tractor related for years. It is much appreciated!
All of this good weather must surely be playing a part in the good will we're feeling today. Tonight sees us taking the alternator out of the car for the 5th time (!), as we need the part number in the hope of sourcing a second, working unit to take with us.
We're also days away from launching our online shop. That's right - you too can be seen sporting the super fabulous Scilly Mission clothing line! Hoodies & T-Shirts, in adult & children sizes, can be delivered straight to your door. We'll let you know as soon as it's up!
