Camera mounts and thanks

Camera mounts and thanks

As we previously touched on, time is slipping away - and fast. There is now only 17 days until the start of this beast - 17 days left before we undertake one of the greatest misadventures left on the planet. Well, actually, it's 14 days for us; we don't have the luxury of just driving to the start line (Goodwood Race Track), but instead need to get a boat back to the mainland. Two boats actually, if we're being pedantic.

One thing that's pushing us to get ready is the support we have, both on the island and further afield. The residents and staff of Tresco Estate have been superb, helping us with our fundraising and donating money to our charity, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The visitors to Tresco Estate, and the readers of the Tresco Times, have been generous in their donations. The various companies that have so far sponsored us have been wonderous - there are some genuinely decent companies and people out there, that recognize the effort we're going to to raise some serious charity cash, and are happy to part with support and sponsorship. There'll be big thanks coming up before we start to everyone that's helped so far (and lots more in depth thanks on the video diaries), but in the meantime, James Will and Nick send their sincere thanks.

Pete the Saxo seems to be feeling a bit better, after our wonder mechanic Mr Shiles got his greasy hands on it. Having worried about the alternator yet again (remember, we've technically gone through 4) it seems the battery was at fault. Despite only being a year old or so, it wouldn't take a charge inside the car or using an external charger. WonderNick put in a replacement, and all seems to be well. Touch wood.

The only bits to go are a few little additions - namely, fitting the CB radio (more details on that to follow), attaching the power inverter somewhere (so we're able to plug in laptop/camera/charge batteries), and giving our stuff a much tidier and more efficent pack away. We'll film this, as it'll probably be comedy. We have so much stuff, and so very little room!

The Tresco Triathlon is looming upon us - this Sunday (11th July) sees 30 competitors take part in the inaugural Tresco Triathlon - a 0.3 mile swim, a 7 mile cycle and a 3 mile run. This finishes at the New Inn, where a beef kebab roast and live music will join the medal presentation ceremony and the World Cup Final (if anyone does want to watch it..). No doubt this will prove to be a day of epic proportions - if you're on the islands this weekend, please do come over for the afternoon!

Fast Films - CameraOne company we would like to say thanks to is Fast Films - supplier for suction camera mounts and various other adventure filming equipment. On explaining our challenge, and what we were looking for, Mr Nelson was happy to advise, and sponsor us with the suction camera mount! Such a piece of kit will enable us to film lots of cool and exciting shots. Almost arty shots, the kind of talent you'd see on Top Gear (and Fifth Gear to a lesser extent).

Our huge thanks to Fast Films for supplying us with the same bit of kit you see in the picture. It's a Cullmann mount, and the thing is awesome. You'd pull the car door off before this mount let go (I managed to pick up my office desk with it!)

If you are looking for some funky equipment to mount your cameras, or sports cameras to record your exploits on bikes or cars, then give Fast Films a shout!
