2 days to go...

2 days to go...

We promise a shorter blog today; the 3 day countdown blog was abnormally large considering it was a mainland day, and we need to save the words for the fun dangerous abroad stuff.

James was up nice and early, and dropped his mum off at Street for work (that way, we got to use Ellen the Audi as well as Pete the Saxo for the day) - by the time they got back to Bridgwater, Will was already up and raring to go. Mackey, of course, was still asleep and dead to the world. In 3 days, he hasn't spoken to James' mum - a combination of her sleeping early, and Mackey sleeping in till late. James & Will took Ellen the Audi for a quick spin to North Petherton, to check whether our passports had arrived. That's right - Thursday, a day before we set off for Goodwood, and without those essential little burgundy books of border crossings.

As it turned out, they hadn't turned up yet, so we continued with our formulated plan for the day; we'd head back into sprawling Taunton and do some last minute shopping (also James had to get some contact lenses). As Mackey caught us up in Pete the Saxo, Will decides he wanted to drive as well, so Mackey & Will swapped vehicles. We all then headed merrily into Taunton, James & Mackey blissfully unaware that we had Will's phone with us, and were about to lose him and Pete the Saxo for a good few hours.

Due to James being a bit of an idiot, it turns out his contacts prescription is a little out of date; queue having another appointment at the end of the day. This left Mackey & Will to take Pete the Saxo up to Weston for some last minute bodywork adjustments (featuring an angle grinder, lump hammer and hacksaw). The death rattle that we heard is seemingly no longer a problem, and the back wheel arches are a little more... expansive, shall we say.

Roll on tomorrow - where we'll be setting off for Goodwood race track and camping for the first time in 10 years.....
