On The Road Again

On The Road Again

Before you get reading and to save you disappointment this is just a short update from Jo on the current state of affairs, it is not the style of humour and satire you have been accustomed to in this blog - however.............

Pete the Saxo suffered a break to his torsion beam on Thursday night near the town of Illchivsk Ukraine and The Islanders were taken under the wing of a local man who could speak English - he came across them on the roadside and took pity on their plight.

He found them a garage, a hotel and a meal - unidentifiable I am told but tasted good.  I will save the details of this rescue for James who I am sure will entertain you with the strange turn of events and Ukraine hospitality!  Will suffered particularly with the after effects of the local vodka!

A new part was sourced and ordered and was supposed to arrive yesterday, only to then find out that it would be Tuesday at the earliest.  It is the same the world over!  Not wanting to wait around any longer they took Pete into their own hands, cut away the wheel arches, hammered the bodywork and reduced the painful sounding crunching.  With some rebalancing of weight they took to the road again.  As you can see from the Live map they are making good progress in a disabled Pete and are heading to Volvograd where they hope to pick up the new part from some depot and persuade a kind Russian to put Pete in tip top condition again.

Apologies for my lack of wit, no-one can write like James and you can now all look forward to the real story of their stay in Ukraine at a later date.
