I'd seen the Mongol Rally coverage in newspapers and TV, and I think most people would agree with me when I say it captures the imagination - a third of the way around the planet, the ultimate road trip, but such a challenge as well - going a month without luxuries, navigating through so many countries and cultures, hitting a problem and solving it...
So, when Mackey frantically ran into my office one morning and reminded us that the sign up date was about to expire, we signed up! As luck would have it, we did miss the date, but still managed to get a place.
The three of us are active supporters of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, assisting in the running of the Tresco Marathon for 6 years - with 2010 being the first year without a marathon, this seemed to be the perfect reason to undertake the rally - a fresh way to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
